Joint venture established for DecoNetwork

Sydney, Australia: January 13, 2012 – PikiCentral Pty Ltd and Wilcom Pty Ltd today announce a joint venture in the formation of a new, independent entity, DecoNetwork Pty Ltd, to develop and manage the DecoNetwork platform.

The companies’ joint efforts to date on the DecoNetwork platform have established it as a market leader and the partners felt that the time was right to formally consolidate the success to date in a joint venture. A key aspect of this decision was to merge the relevant resources from Wilcom and PikiCentral into a new entity to enable a rapid expansion of the DecoNetwork platform.

Martin Kristiaman former CEO of Wilcom, will become CEO of DecoNetwork Pty Ltd (effective December 1, 2011). The vacancy created in Wilcom from this move is being filled on an interim basis by Four Bells Advisory Pty Ltd, an independent advisory group commissioned to undertake an internal review of Wilcom’s businesses as the first stage of the 2012 strategic plan. It is envisaged that a search for a permanent new CEO for Wilcom will commence early in the New Year and (given Wilcom’s market leading position in this space) a strong candidate is expected to be appointed during Q1.

“The early success of DecoNetwork” Martin explains “has encouraged this joint venture partnership which will secure the future development of the platform, but also maximize the opportunities and demand we’re seeing for DecoNetwork.”

As a part of this re-organization, Wilcom will become a key shareholder of the DecoNetwork Pty. Ltd. and be represented on the Board of Directors. Wilcom will maintain a close cooperative role in the future product development and direction of the DecoNetwork platform.

These changes announced today have been reached as a result of the necessity of bringing a close and supportive business relationship between PikiCentral and Wilcom to a more formalized and dedicated joint venture status.

This is particularly true for rich website applications like DecoNetwork. So how to we inform your users that their old Internet Explorer is not only affecting their browsing experience but could actually be compromising their security on the Internet? (and yes, older version of Internet Explorer are less secure). Or as Microsoft puts it:

There are many benefits of upgrading to a newer version of Internet Explorer – improved speed, tabbed browsing, and better privacy settings to name a few.

The web has changed significantly over the past 10 years. The browser has evolved to adapt to new web technologies, and the latest versions of Internet Explorer help protect you from new attacks and threats.

This juicy snippet comes from a site Microsoft put together at http://www.ie6countdown.com that tracks the use of IE 6 and educates their customers to move on. Even Microsoft are asking their users to let Internet Explorer 6 die peacefully.

We can also do our part. Here is a small snippet you can insert into your DecoNetwork website that will create a small floating DIV at the top of your site and warn your customers about their old browser. The great thing about this snippet is it will appear on every page to remind the user “IT’S NOT MY SITE… IT’S YOU!!!!!!!!!!”

How do you do it?

Simple!

In your DecoNetwork website browse Manage Store > Appearance > Customize Template HTML.

Select the Custom Layout tab check Override default layout:

Scroll down the custom HTML and locate the <body> tag.

Insert a few carriage returns after <body> and past the following HTML:

Change the content to suit what you want to say.

The <!–[if lt IE 8 ]> section controls what version of IE this will show for. In my case I have it set to show in versions LOWER than Internet Explorer 8. In other words for IE 7, 6, 5 and heaven forbid 4 and below. If you want it to show for all Internet Explorer versions then change it to <!–[if IE ]>. Click Update to save your changes.

Next we need to style the floating DIV and ensure it always stays at the top of the page and can be easily seen.

Browse Manage Store > Appearance > Customize Template CSS.

Select the Create Custom CSS tab and paste in the following CSS:

Well many of you may already know, in Business Hub (Order management within Deconetwork) when you add a product is has defined meta data (sizes, colors, images) associated with it already. A freeform line item has no meta data associated to it, its a simple line item.

So a freeform line item is about “freedom” and speed.
A freeform line item allows you to define the name of the product you want to use, give it a description and a price, thats it, simple and fast.

The definition of that product is not saved and it can no be re-used.

Here is how you add a freefrom line item.
First make sure you are in Business Hub, click “Orders” -> “DecoNetwork Business Hub“.

Then click “quotes”.

The click:  “add quote”.

Now we are going to add the freeform line item, click “add product”.

A dropdown appears.

at the bottom of the dropdown, one of the options is “define new product”, click this.

A pop appears where you can select the type of product you want to define. Select “Add freeform line item” and click continue.

That is it, a new freeform line item is added to your order, now fill out the details.

• Name – Enter the name of the item.
• Description – Enter a basic description the customer will see.
• Unit Price – Enter the single unit price for the product.
• Qty – Enter a qty

It is that easy. This means you can now add any line item on the fly without having to setup a product definition. This means you can start using Business Hub for all aspects of your business.

There have been some important changes to PayPal MassPay which will affect new PayPal personal account holders.

Firstly, what is PayPal MassPass?

PayPal MassPay is a PayPal feature that lets you send payments to many recipients at once in different countries and currencies. DecoNetwork uses PayPal to pay affiliate sellers on your website.

What are the changes?

To reduce money laundering, PayPal have suspended MassPay for any new PayPal personal accounts.

Will this affect my existing account?

According to PayPal, no. Existing personal accounts will still enjoy the benefits of MassPay.

So what are the options for new PayPal accounts?

MassPay will still be available in PayPal however you must own a Business or Premium PayPal account.

PayPal provide these instructions to get started with MassPay:

1. Verify your account status. Go to your PayPal Profile under My settings and verify that your Account Type is Premier or Business, or upgrade your account.
2. Verify your API settings. Click on My selling tools. Click Selling online and verify your API access. Click Update to view or set up your API signature and credentials. (Obtain the DecoNetwork API details from your Manage Fulfillment Center > Fulfillment Settings > Commission Payment Method.)
3. Link a bank account to your PayPal account. Click My money. Under Bank accounts, add or update your bank account. You can’t use credit cards to make Mass Payments.
4. Make sure that you have enough money in your PayPal account to cover the payment. If you are sending payments in different currencies, verify that your PayPal balance for each currency covers the amount you want to send.

Will this affect my DecoNetwork affiliate sellers?

No. An affiliate store owner (person who receives a commission payment from a fulfillment center) does not need to have a business or premium PayPal account. This change only affects the fulfillment center (person who pays the commission payment to the affiliate store).
